What is the Physical Web Association?
The Physical Web Association (PHWA) is a non-profit community established to advance the future development of the Physical Web. Our main goals are to drive its adoption and ensure it remains universal and open. We are developing the next generation of this technology in the meantime.
Online Collaboration
We meet online via our Slack channel that is open to members and interested parties. We have also private channels for members only.
Forward Thinking
We want to advance the adoption of the physical web concepts and technology by the general public and increasing number of consumers.
Problem Solvers
If you are a problem solver with a mind for decentralized solutions or if you are an organization looking to collaborate, we are problem solvers at heart .
Technical Standards
The ultimate goal of the association is to provide an open, scalable, and standardized solution for proximity services that puts the consumer in control.
Our Story
Back in 2016, browsers and software developers were eager to support the Physical Web.
But in 2017, software developers and start up businesses witnessed a situation where the Chrome Team at Google announced they cease support for widgets in iOS for the Physical Web.
Once the support weakened, we decided to establish the Physical Web Association.
